‘Making Connections’ Foundation Studies Mentoring Program

View full album

‘Making Connections’ is a volunteer program. It offers new international students studying in Foundation Studies program assistance and guidance. It is also a great way to meet new friends. The program offers regular organised events and activities where participants are able to get to know each other.

Our purpose

  • Support the transition of new Foundation Studies students to a new environment
  • Facilitate adjustment into Australian culture
  • Enrich university life experience.

How does the program work?

Students and mentors are matched together to form mentor groups. There may be 2 mentors and 5 - 6 new Foundation Studies students.

Program staff arrange initial introductions. Following that, mentors keep in contact with their student group and organise catch-up meetings and activities. Foundation Studies program staff are available to provide support to all mentors and students.

Mentors who complete the training and achieve the minimum 15 hours of voluntary service within the ‘Making Connections’ program may be eligible to qualify for RMIT’s LEAD certificate.
